Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTION:To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment in a major producing unit or assigned area.TYPICAL DUTIES:Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”.Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work to be done.Inspects equipment for defects, such as, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.Advises when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.Dismantle, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, and lubricates mechanical equipment.Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.Operates simple machine tools, such as, drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.Erects scaffolds and performs simple rigging as necessary.Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.Familiar with alignment / laser tools and equipmentWorks with repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/ power plant or construction experience. A general knowledge of basic hand tools. Must be able to pass the written Millwright Skills Test at or above 70% or have an NCCER certification for your craft. Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training. Obtain and maintain an active status in a drug testing program and pass a criminal background check.Physical RequirementsEmployee will be requires standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.Will talk and hear and comprehendMust have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocolsWill use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.EEO/M/F/Disability/Vets/Affirmative Action EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
