Lead / Senior Technician Diesel & Gas Fleet (Hands-On Role) Location: 6100 Hwy 90 East, New Iberia, LA 70560 Company: Ross Bus Sales Job Type: Full-Time About Us Ross Bus Sales is expanding operations in the Lafayette / Iberia region with an upgraded and modernized maintenance facility dedicated to safe, efficient, and reliable student transportation. We re looking for an experienced Lead / Senior Technician who wants to be hands-on in the shop, perform high-level repairs, and help mentor newer technicians as the team grows. Our shop manager a former lead technician himself will provide training and support as we continue to build out this location. Position Overview This is a hands-on role, with at least 90% of time spent performing repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on our school bus fleet. The right candidate will take ownership of their work, model best practices, and play an active role in developing newer techs as the shop expands. Our fleet includes both diesel and gasoline-powered buses (primarily Ford chassis). We re seeking a technician who s confident working across both platforms. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical repairs on diesel and gas engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspensions. Handle preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs to keep the fleet safe and reliable. Mentor and assist junior technicians with proper procedures and troubleshooting. Maintain accurate repair orders and service documentation. Communicate proactively with management on repair status, parts needs, and process improvements. Uphold a safe, organized, and professional shop environment. Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel or fleet technician (school bus experience preferred). Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with diesel (Cummins, CAT, International, etc.) and gasoline (Ford) engines. ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications preferred. CDL (B or A) with air brake endorsement a plus (or willingness to obtain). Proven reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
