Overview:

The Mold and Product Design Engineer will develop molds, tooling, and manufacturing machinery to support production operations. The MPD Engineer will create technical drawings of measured specifications and find solutions while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing processes. This role will focus on designing blow molds for plastic materials used in manufacturing processes and seeing the products through validation.

What Will You Do?

Design Engineering

  • Design blow molds for plastic products
  • Develop and design mechanical components for manufacturing machinery
  • Support prototype development and see it through production process
  • Collaborating with production and tooling departments to ensure molds are designed for optimal production
  • Monitor and test molds to ensure their functionality and durability
  • Staying updated with the latest design technologiesand industry trends
  • Using CAD/CAM softwareto produce detailed blueprints and conduct feasibility studies
  • Testing and modifying designs to ensure optimal performance and quality
  • Calculating and planning the mold production process, including determining materials, methods, and labor requirements
  • Performing regular inspections and maintenance of molds to ensure they are in good condition and meeting quality standards
  • Collaborating with other engineers and production staff to troubleshoot any issues with the mold design
  • Ability to conduct Moldflow and Finite element analysis

Technical Documentation

  • Maintaining detailed documentationof mold design and modifications
  • Keeping records of mold design projects, including all specifications, calculations, and design modifications
  • Generate bills of materials
  • Create work instructions for operators and maintenance
  • Manage revision control
  • Staying updated with the latest technology and best practices in mold design engineering

Education and/or Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Associate's degree with relevant experience considered
  • Professional engineering certification preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years blow / injection mold design experience in a manufacturing setting
  • 3+ years machinery design experience
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
  • Project management experience

Technical Skills:

  • SolidWorks (required)
  • AutoCAD
  • Mastercam
  • 3D modeling
  • Rendering software
  • Tool and die design
  • Material science
