Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryKauai Montessori Project is seeking a nurturing, calm, and observant Infant Specialist with a passion for Montessori philosophy to join our early childhood team. In our program the Infant Specialist plays a vital role in supporting each child's natural development through respectful caregiving, intentional environment design, and individualized attention. This position serves infants age 6 weeks through two years of age in a peaceful prepared environment aligned with the Montessori principals.DutiesProvide consistent, respectful care that honors each infant's rhythm and fosters independence and trustObserve each child closely to understand their developmental needs and offer appropriate activities that support exploration and discovery.Create and maintain a beautiful, orderly, and developmentally appropriate Montessori environment that encourages freedom of movement and choice.Implement care routines (feeding, diapering, sleeping) as opportunities for connection and learning, following the Montessori's respectful caregiving practices.Document observations and milestones to track individual progress and support child-led development.Communicate clearly and compassionately with families,, sharing insights into their child's experiences and development.Collaborate with fellow educators to uphold Montessori values and maintain a calm, centered classroom culture.Participate in Montessori professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives. RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required; Infant/Toddler Montessori certification or willingness to obtain is highly preferred.At least 1-2 years experience working with infants in an early childhood setting.Strong understanding of infant development.CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Gentle, respectful communication style with both children and adults.Ability to lift and carry infants, and engage in purposeful, floor-level activities.Nice To HavesAssociate or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field.Montessori certification or training from an accredited program.Experience in a Montessori school or center.Bilingual skills are a plus.BenefitsAt Kauai Montessori Project we are committed to nurturing the whole child-and the whole educator.
