Job Description SummaryEmphasis on Diabetic Pump Patients and Continuous Glucose Monitors. This includes independent management of patient panels and treatment plans. Provide coverage for inpatient Diabetes Management Service (DMS) for absences planned and unplanned as well as scheduled weekends and holidays. Assist with DMS in providing inpatient care for patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia. Manage care of assigned inpatient caseload within the DMS service and monitor treatment plans. Manage care of outpatients with diabetes history of hyperglycemia and related conditions. Utilize appropriate clinical and laboratory data to appropriately manage patients. Ensure that inpatient care documentation is within MUSC compliance and HIPAA directives. Responsible for outpatient clinics in MUSC outreach sites. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift lower push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (/-) unassisted exert up to 50 lbs of force lift from 36 to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.Additional Job DescriptionMasters degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and two years clinical experience required at least one year of which must have been in a specialty area of care. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner specific to the area of employment required unless a new graduate. New graduates must be certification eligible upon employment and obtain certification within six months of employment. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse and hold official recognition as a Nurse Practitioner from the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
