The island Naturalist will conduct beach walks, informational talks about the island's history, surrounding geography, wildlife, and nearby Kenai Fjords National Park. This position will have the opportunity to engage with our Day Lodge guests and briefly educate them about Fox Island. The Naturalist will help assist with other island guest needs such as pre-arrival duties and future programing.Provide exceptional services and respect to guestsDeveloping and presenting different educational programs to guestsDeveloping and providing activities for guestsOrganize and maintain lodge, props, slides, and guide areasMaintaining fishing gear and assist guests with obtaining fishing licensesOrganize and maintain guest lagoon water equipmentOrganize and maintain library and art suppliesProvide excellent customer service to guests and other team membersMake sound judgments and anticipate issues and opportunitiesHandle comments, complaints and concerns with a high level of efficiency and in the best interest of the guestBe knowledgeable of daily functions or activities occurring at the Lodge and in area to answer guests’ questionsWhat skills and experience do you need for this job?Communicate to guests and employees information effectivelyWorks professionally and courteously when under pressure in a busy environmentArrive to work on time, ready to work, dressed in clean uniform, with a neat and clean appearanceEffectively solve problems, give and receive directions and manage time efficientlyWork independently and with others to meet the goals and standards of the positionDeliver communications to guests, employees and management with a pleasant and positive demeanorWork efficiently with purpose, multitasks, and accepts other duties as assignedAbility to work in harsh weather conditions for extended periods of time on a varied scheduleAble to live in close quarters with others in a remote wilderness settingAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as a team memberMust be able to reach at, above/below shoulder height with regular frequency and possess the ability to handle and or move up to 50 poundsMust be able to walk, sit and stand for extended periods of timeCurrent ServSafe CertificationExperience in the outdoor industryScience or outdoor recreation schooling/backgroundThe starting wage for this role is $18.75/hour. About Us:We're more than a hospitality and attractions company.
