Details:Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Test Technician or Test Specialist to join our Electrical Utility Commissioning team at the Marathon Martinez Refinery. This role is responsible for the field testing verification and commissioning of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems to ensure safety performance and regulatory compliance prior to energization and handover to operations.Pay Range: $35-$80 per hourLocation:Martinez CAKey ResponsibilitiesExecute commissioning and functional testing for MV/HV electrical systems: transformers switchgear control panels relays SCADA and communication networks.Perform electrical tests: insulation resistance turns ratio CT/PT verification breaker timing primary/secondary injection and logic checks.Interpret and review schematics single-line diagrams (SLDs) and construction drawings; validate as-built conditions and develop redlines.Collaborate with utilities contractors and operations on energization plans and site readiness.Troubleshoot protection/control systems and coordinate corrective actions with engineering teams.Maintain accurate documentation including test records punch lists commissioning reports and turnover packages.Ensure all work adheres to applicable codes standards and site safety protocols (e.g. NETA IEEE CSA NEC).Participate in site inspections QA/QC processes and startup support for substations and power distribution infrastructure.Mentor junior technicians and contribute to a strong safety culture.QualificationsDiploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology Power Systems or related field.Eligible for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or equivalent.3-7 years of direct field experience in commissioning and testing in utility power generation or heavy industrial environments.Proficiency with industry-standard test equipment (e.g. Omicron Doble Megger) and software tools.Strong knowledge of protection and control systems utility interconnections and commissioning best practices.Familiarity with LOTO procedures arc flash protection and electrical safety standards.Valid drivers license with flexibility to travel and work in field-based environments.Preferred QualificationsNETA Level I II or III certificationExperience with ISO NERC or utility interconnection complianceBackground in SCADA systems telemetry or RTAC integrationAbility to lead commissioning on complex multi-discipline projectsPrevious experience in industrial or refinery settingsWorking ConditionsField-based position involving exposure to energized equipment active construction zones and varying weather conditions.Extended hours rotating shifts and regional travel may be required based on project schedules.#INDWRequired Experience:IC Key Skills Cluster,IT,B2C,Key Account,AutoCAD Drafting Employment Type : Contract Experience: years Vacancy: 1 Hourly Salary Salary: 35 - 80
