About the Role & The MissionJoin a dedicated team at a major State Public Health agency (Confidential Client) that is focused on helping people live healthy lives in healthy communities. This is a high-impact, mission-critical role supporting a major IT transformation where the agency is migrating its server environment to a State Data Center.We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated Network Engineer Consultant to be a core part of the team responsible for remediation efforts and implementing a secure, segmented framework for the new server environment. You will ensure the agency's systems are set up following industry best practices to maintain business continuity and compliance with federal and state regulatory laws (e.g., CDC, HIPAA, CJIS).Key Responsibilities (Daily Duties)Infrastructure Implementation: Participate in the planning, designing, installation, configuration, and conversion of the physical and virtual server environment into a segmented framework.Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, security baselines, and audit logging in accordance with CIS, NIST, and organizational IT security policies.Tier 3 Support: Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex identity, access, and authentication issues.Collaboration: Work closely with Cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities and coordinate with vendors and internal staff on hardware configurations and implementations.Documentation: Produce clear technical documentation, implementation plans, and roadmaps for system enhancements.Flexibility: Work closely with the team to identify, prioritize, and schedule workload, including work that may be required outside traditional business hours.Required Core Technical Skills (Experience Ranked by Importance)Experience with Windows server.Proficiency with GPO and Powershell.Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory.Experience with backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.Advanced knowledge of computer and network hardware, software, and operating systems.Experience with security and data classification related to CDC, HIPAA, and CJIS.Advanced knowledge of IT system analysis, design, testing, and maintenance techniques.Preferred Technical SkillsExperience with Microsoft HyperV.Experience with Linux Server, AIX.Experience with monitoring and analysis tools such as Solarwinds and Lansweeper.Familiarity with CITRIX Presentation Server or XenApp.Required Education & Soft SkillsEducation: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience.Certifications: None required.Soft Skills: Critical thinking skills and problem resolution , Ability to establish positive working relationships , Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
