Job Description

Title: Network Systems Engineer (On-Site)Location: Long Beach, CA (onsite)Position Type: Short term contract, On-Site Till the end of the year. (including weekend event support)About the RoleWe are seeking an IT & Broadcast Systems Engineer to join our team at Thunder Studios. This individual will provide day-to-day on-site IT support, manage systems and infrastructure, and play a key role in supporting live events and productions at the Studio.The ideal candidate is proactive, highly responsive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. We need someone who can deliver solutions quickly, adapt to changing demands, and maintain composure under pressure especially during live events. This role combines core IT operations with hands-on support for live events and broadcast environments.Please note: While the following responsibilities outline the primary focus of this role, the position may include additional duties as business needs arise. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-User IT SupportProvide daily on-site IT support for staff at Thunder Studios.Handle onboarding and offboarding of employees.Configure, deploy, and ship laptops for new hires.Wipe, re-image, and reconfigure laptops as needed.Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues quickly and effectively.Systems AdministrationManage accounts and access in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Azure Active Directory.Create, delete, and modify user accounts, groups, and licenses.Ensure compliance with IT security and access policies.Maintain documentation of processes, procedures, and system configurations.Mobile Device Management (MDM)Administer and manage endpoints using Kandji, Microsoft Intune, or similar MDM platforms.Enforce security and compliance policies across devices.Deploy applications, updates, and configurations via MDM.Support macOS and Windows laptop management at scale.NetworkingConfigure, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.Design, document, and maintain network diagrams and topology documentation.Configure and manage VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, and DNS for segmented and secure connectivity.Implement and manage network security policies, including firewall rules and access control.Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues, latency, and connectivity outages quickly.Monitor and optimize network throughput, reliability, and redundancy for both business and event environments.Collaborate with vendors or ISP support to ensure uptime and service quality.Perform firmware updates, backups, and preventive maintenance on all network hardware.Event & Broadcast SupportProvide on-site IT and networking support for events hosted at Thunder Studios (including weekends).Support live production and broadcast environments with a strong understanding of streaming protocols (SRTP, RTP, RTMP, SRT, etc.).Collaborate with event production teams to ensure reliable connectivity and technical support during live events.Maintain and support AV, control room, and broadcast-related IT infrastructure.Requirements3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or related roles.Strong experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Azure AD administration.Hands-on expertise with MDM platforms (Kandji, Intune, or similar).Solid networking skills: configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of enterprise-grade switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.Experience configuring VLANs, VPNs, and network segmentation.Understanding of network security best practices and experience with firewalls or intrusion prevention systems.Experience with laptop imaging, configuration, and asset management (Windows and macOS).Understanding of streaming and broadcast protocols (SRTP, RTP, RTMP, SRT, etc.).Ability to support live events, productions, and broadcast environments.Proactive, reactive, responsive, and able to deliver solutions fast.Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-pressure, fast-paced environment.Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required by events.Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a studio, live production, or broadcast IT environment.Familiarity with AV systems, broadcast control rooms, or streaming workflows.Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft, Google Workspace Admin, Jamf, or Kandji certifications).
