Job Description

NewsNation is looking for a booking/segment producer to work on the networks flagship primetime news program.The Booking Producer/Segment Producer works with show producers to arrange guest appearances on the program to discuss news of the day breaking news and long-form investigations deep-dives and in-depth conversations with leaders and lawmakers. NewsNationPrime also focuses on Pulse of America bookings speaking with real Americans from across the country about what they are seeing and facing shining a spotlight on the under-told stories across the country.The producer also works to write guest segments including script writing visual element gathering and graphics requests.NewsNation stands out in a competitive news environment by storytelling in a dynamic visually forward way. What can NewsNation do to storytell in a way that gives our viewer something more key takeaways and bring them back next time.You must have excellent organizational skills be an effective communicator be detail-oriented be a solid broadcast writer and work well under deadline pressure. The position is based in our Chicago office.Duties & Responsibilities: Pitch stories daily Identify top tier guests cultivate relationships and arrange guest appearances on the show Conduct pre-interviews and in-depth research on range of topics Organize and produce elements for show and interview segments Monitor the latest news and locate people images and sound editorial information via Twitter Facebook Instagram Dataminr YouTube and other platforms Find reliable guests/witnesses quickly during breaking news situations Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadershipRequirements & Skills:Five or more years experience in national or major-market newsBachelors degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.Must exhibit strong news judgment and editorial sensibilitiesStrong broadcast newswriting skills are requiredMust be able to create dynamic graphic and video elementsMust be self-directing self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of peopleMust interact well with on-air talent news managers videographers production digital and engineering staffShould be able to handle stress including short deadlinesShould be able to work at a computer for extended periods of timeMust be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights mornings and weekends/holidaysSalary Range: $#LI-OnsiteBenefits: Our comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes but not limited to medical (with multiple plan options) dental and vision insurance paid time off a 401(k) with company matching contributions Paid Parental leave life insurance and more.
