Regardless of the position one holds each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing vibrant and inclusive culture.This position functions as the BETA Technologies Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) Team Lead and is a critical position responsible for managing complex NDI operations and ensuring the highest standards of quality safety and compliance to the NAS 410 Aerospace Standard. The ideal candidate is proficient in multiple methods including Ultrasonic Liquid Penetrant and Radiography and will have experience with inspecting composites. This candidate will aid in the development of the processes procedures and training of new technicians and selecting new equipment. BETAs Nondestructive Inspection team works to develop inspections in manufacturing production and post-production of our aircraft and its systems. We perform Ultrasonic and Liquid Penetrant methods on both composite and metallic materials. All inspections follow NAS 410 guidelines.How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation: Supervise and coordinate NDI technicians across multiple manufacturing and inspection teamsDevelop and implement advanced inspection strategies and methodologiesProvide technical guidance and expertise in complex inspection scenariosReview and validate sophisticated inspection procedures and techniquesEnsure compliance with industry standards (such as ASME ASTM NAS etc.)Conduct comprehensive quality control reviewsDevelop and maintain inspection documentation and reporting systemsDevelop and maintain probes and tools for NDT usePerform advanced flaw evaluation and analysisLead and mentor NDI techniciansCoordinate training and professional development programs as well as the use and operation of equipmentManage team performance and conduct performance evaluationsWork independently and support team members to perform other job-related tasks as neededFoster a culture of safety continuous improvement and technical excellenceMinimum Qualifications: At least Five years with NAS410 NDI Level III certification in multiple methods (UT RT PT MT ET)Strong leadership and communication skillsBachelors degree in Engineering Physics a related technical field or equivalent industry experienceExperience in Aerospace QA inspection in an AS9100/ISO9000 certified establishmentKnowledge to interpret codes standards and other documents that control NDI method(s).Advanced knowledge of inspection equipment and softwareProficient in the use of composites in aircraft structures and developing the techniques required to perform inspectionsUnderstanding of materials science and inspection technologiesBe capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.Ability to plan prioritize and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.Ability to work in complex high-pressure environmentsExcellent problem-solving and critical thinking skillsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as neededAbove and Beyond Qualifications: Experience with advanced material testing or understanding of material properties and defect analysisProficiency in data analysis and statistical process controlExperience with emerging NDI technologies (phased array digital radiography)Experience with advanced computer-aided inspection (CAI) software experienceKnowledge of advanced computational modeling and simulation toolsFamiliarity with machine learning and AI applications in NDIAdvanced CAD software proficiencyTechnical writing skillsExperience in developing inspection training programsGD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experienceSix Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles certificationCertification in advanced metallurgy or materials engineeringAdditional NAS AWS ASNT certifications or advanced credentialsTechnical consulting backgroundPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Ability to work in a manufacturing environment using OSHA required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 10 pounds$125000 - $150000 a yearThe wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role.
