However the appointee may hold a higher rank provided he or she possesses the minimum education and experience now required or established in the future by the Tennessee State Board of Regents.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSFulfill all instructional requirements as mandated by Cleveland State Community College and the Tennessee Board of Regents.Utilize appropriate instructional materials and methods.Maintain currency in instructional field and teaching methodology.Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution maintain appropriate office hours and secure approval for any commitments which might affect employment.Be accessible to students for advisement academic help and assistance depending on instructional format.As needed teach during all operational hours of the college on- or off-campus.Participate in institutional and academic unit meetings.Maintain and safeguard all necessary records and report grades periodically as prescribed by Registrar.Comply with Cleveland State Community College and Tennessee Board of Regents Guidelines and Policies.Participate in periodic evaluations.Support and participate in the recruitment and retention efforts of the college.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (5%)Perform public service in the community as defined by the institutions role and mission.Promote and serve as advisor to campus clubs student groups or other related student activities.Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPossess adequate teaching skills and perform normal duties expected of a teacher at the college level.Where applicable maintain adequate stock levels of supplies for laboratory use.Oversee laboratory and classroom safety.Exhibit knowledge of comprehensive community college concept.Exhibit knowledge of effective interpersonal skills.WORK ACTIVITIES & EQUIPMENTWork regularly requires the use of personal computers printers scanners and presentation technology (instructional media). Incumbent must exhibit competency pertaining to all training equipment specifically related to the instructors discipline.JOB LOCATIONThe primary workplace for this position is the Health and Science Building at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland Tennessee. Occasional travel to off-campus instructional sites within the Colleges five-county service area may be required. The weekly work schedule will be determined by program and course needs and may vary from day to day.
