Salary/Position Classification$105000 Commensurate with Experience contract Exempt40 hours per week 12-month appointment100% Remote Work Availability: NoThis position will work in person on the campus of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks NDPurpose of PositionThe College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is comprised of the departments of Nursing Nutrition & Dietetics and Social Work. For this position the Nutrition & Dietetics department is seeking a tenured faculty member to additionally serve as the department chair.The mission of the CNPD is to provide excellent and collaborative education scholarship and service to advance human well-being for all with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations.The mission of the department of Nutrition & Dietetics is to provide exceptional culturally aware and collaborative education experiences and scholarship that advance well-being through nutrition for all.CHAIR:The role of a department chair is to provide leadership and support for members of the department in carrying out its mission. The department chair seeks to create a community for learning that includes the department faculty students and the broader community of practice. The department chair also encourages and supports the faculty in teaching research advising and service activities. FACULTY:The applicant will have a separate faculty appointment within the N&D department and will carry out UNDs tripartite mission with responsibilities in research teaching and service in addition to the administrative role as department chair. This position is expected to work collaboratively with department faculty to achieve the mission of the department through effective teaching and advising impactful research and valuable service endeavors. This position is for either an Associate Professor or Full Professor with tenure in the department of Nutrition & Dietetics subject to approval by the both the University and the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education. This is a 12-month appointment.Candidate will be required to meet requirements at rank.This position requires an on-campus in person presence at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks ND.Duties & Responsibilities40% - ResearchMaintain an active productive research agendaSubstantial secured external grant funding30% - Administration as department chairAcademic program responsibilities including (but not limited to):Fostering interaction and collaboration in the departmentFostering community engagement with clinical partners and othersMentoring new faculty in the departmentOversee coordination of student recruitment and admissionEvaluation of current programs as well as program development and new program creationOversee curricular developmentLead reaffirmation process and monitor accreditation statusOversee preparation of class schedules handbooks marketing materials etc.Personnel responsibilities including (but not limited to):Address and monitor performance concernsCoordinate and conduct evaluation process for facultyAppoint temporary faculty as well as GTAs and GRAsAssist faculty with professional developmentShare or recognize faculty accomplishmentsResources including (but not limited to):Manage departmental budgets and provide input for budget review meetingsProvide input on distribution of scholarshipsWork with the Dean regarding long-term planning20% - Service to the department college or university10% - TeachingEffort allocation reserved to teach one 3 credit course during the 2026-2027 academic year including student advisementRequired CompetenciesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to problem solveAbility to think strategically and engage in open dialogueCollegial and collaborative facilitation skillsDemonstrated commitment to nutrition & dietetics ethics and valuesMinimum RequirementsDoctoral degree in nutrition human nutrition or closely related fieldAt least one graduate degree in nutrition or dieteticsEvidence of scholarly accomplishmentTeaching in a higher educationTwo years of administrative experienceSuccessful completion of a Criminal History Background CheckIn compliance with federal law all persons hired will be required to verify identityand eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.Preferred QualificationsExperience in curriculum development and online teachingInterdisciplinary experienceExperience in program accreditationA proven record of fund-raising grant-writing and/or community engagementRegistered dietitian nutritionist (RDN/RD)Ability to qualify for licensure in ND and MNTo ApplyAcademic Search is assisting the University of North Dakota in this search.
