Our interdisciplinary research team employs a variety of methodologies, including community-based research and randomized trials to understand the critical exposures that influence maternal and child health and development and the types and combinations of early life interventions that impact these outcomes. The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to research focused on advancing global maternal and child health, nutrition, and development in resource-limited settings. As a postdoctoral research associate, you will play an essential role in supporting a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) titled “Impact of combined nutrition, responsive parenting, and health intervention on childhood development (BUNDLE) study”. We encourage fellows to also develop their own research program within the fields of nutrition, global health, and early childhood development. This 1-year position, with opportunity for reappointment, offers a competitive 12-month salary, along with a comprehensive benefits package in accordance with the University of South Carolina’s policies.Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in research, effective written and verbal communication.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of research design, data collection, and analysis methods used in public health or social science research.Familiarity with community-based intervention studies and ethical research practices in global settings.Skill in using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, or SPSS) for data management and analysis.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of reports and manuscripts.Ability to work independently under limited supervision and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.Ability to organize and manage multiple research activities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.Job Duty:Developing study materials. The position will require developing study materials, such as intervention materials, assessment tools, and standard operating procedures. The position will require managing and monitoring various study activities, including data collection and intervention implementation, as well as database management. Many of these activities will require travel to Liberia.
