Nutrition Services Systems & Compliance Specialist
Mankato Area Public Schools is seeking a full-time dedicated and qualified individual to join our team as the Nutrition Services Systems & Compliance Specialist. This is a 12-month, non-affiliated position, eligible for Category II benefits. Coordinates the district-wide financial, eligibility, reimbursement, and point-of-sale (POS) systems that support Nutrition Services operations. Performs specialized administrative and technical work related to meal benefit eligibility, meal accountability, reimbursement claiming, financial reconciliation, and regulatory compliance. Working independently within established federal, state, and district requirements, the position maintains accurate program records, monitors compliance with Child Nutrition Program regulations, supports the day-to-day operation of Nutrition Services systems, and assists staff in resolving procedural and technical issues. The specialist reviews and analyzes information, identifies discrepancies, researches solutions, and exercises independent judgment when determining eligibility, reconciling accounts, validating meal accountability data, and resolving system-related concerns. Serves as a resource to Nutrition Services staff regarding point-of-sale procedures, eligibility requirements, reimbursement processes, and meal accountability practices. Works collaboratively with district departments, software vendors, and state agencies to maintain accurate records, support efficient operations, and ensure compliance with program requirements.
Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent Two-year degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered Experience with accounting, bookkeeping, cash handling, or financial recordkeeping Strong computer skills including spreadsheet, database, and financial software applications Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and family information Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Qualifications Preferred: Experience with school nutrition programs Experience with student information systems and point-of-sale software Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations Experience with reimbursement claims, meal accountability, or benefit eligibility programs
