You are:Open to new ideasNimble in fluid changing environmentsExcited by growth change and innovation WHAT YOULL DOThe Quad Preparatory School is looking to fill an Occupational Therapist leave position to join our team of clinicians; full-time or part-time to cover a leave replacement. The occupational therapist works with a primary caseload of students in 2nd3rd grade and may provide occasional support or consultation to students in other grade levels as needed. Clinical services are provided in a highly collaborative and integrated manner so as to generalize skills for success in natural and nuanced environments. Occupational therapists have the opportunity to receive mentorship from senior clinicians as well as through our consultative services provided by Special Programs in Occupational Therapy Services (SPOTS) a highly-regarded practice in New York City.Expectations:Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to students within a collaborative and integrated school modelProvide graphomotor sensory and visual-spatial skill building interventions in creative waysProvide support to other clinical and academic staff to integrate occupational therapy goals and individualized sensory regulation strategies into other contexts throughout the school dayCollaborate with other clinical and academic staff to integrate explicit instruction in executive functioning skills throughout the school dayParticipate in and/or lead aspects of health and wellness classes as assignedParticipate in calls with outside providers and parents as needed and at a minimum of once per monthMeet with parents/guardians to provide feedback on students progress as needed and at minimum at scheduled parent-teacher conferencesRecord clinical progress for each studentParticipate in weekly Psychosocial team meetings with all faculty and staffActively participate in supervision sessions with direct supervisorCompetently utilize Google Suite in particular Google Drive and DocsPerform other duties as assignedCompetencies:Passion for working with childrenDesire and ability to work with students with special needsAbility to connect with middle and high school- age childrenKnowledge of various clinical interventions and use of a collaborative approach to meet the unique needs of each childEffective oral and written communication skillsA solid understanding of adolescent childrens academic social and emotional developmentAttention to detailMaintaining confidentiality and privacyEthical conductTime management and the ability to multitaskTeamwork and collaborationPatience and flexibilityRequired Education and Experience:Masters degree in Occupational TherapyValid OTR/L in the State of New YorkExperience working with children with varying learning needsPreferred Education and Experience:Experience working with twice-exceptional youthExperience with child populationWork Environment:This job operates in a school setting. The school is located on the fourth floor of a building with an elevator. This role requires working in various locations around the school and occasional travel to the Upper School campus approximately two blocks away.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is active and involves continuous standing walking and climbing stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. Typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:We are looking to fill a full-time and/or part-time position to cover leave replacements in an educational facility that is open eight hours a day. Teachers psychosocial teachers and staff clinicians work ten months out of the year according to the academic calendar (late August to late June).
