Job DescriptionThe Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 position at Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) in Seward Alaska.Watch Alaska DOCs video here:DOC Extended 4 ()What You Will Be Doing:Perform duties in multiple administrative functional areas that require adapting internal processes to meet the needs of the organization; liaison between institution and inter agency offices regarding personnel and payroll matters.Process payroll for approximately 200/- employees and manage employee personnel files and assist employees as needed.Assist with processing all mail for Spring Creek Correctional Complex.Perform services that require determining administrative security and /or programmatic tasks to be completed prioritizing work and deciding the appropriate action to be taken based on interpretation of organizations programs policies and regulations.Our Mission Values and Culture:Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum-security state operated adult correctional institution that has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. Top finishers cross the finish line in about an hour.Seward schools are second to none with the Seward Elementary School being selected as a 2008 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School.The region offers fantastic marine boating fishing and hunting cross-country skiing bird watching hiking kayaking running and biking and much much more!Please see the Chamber of Commerces website at: for more information and visit the following sites: QualificationsHigh school diploma or the equivalent.ANDOne year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients answering phones typing filing sorting mail entering data receiving payments making change or maintaining logs.Substitution:Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).Special Note:High school diploma equivalent means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients answering phones typing filing sorting mail entering data receiving payments making change or maintaining logs.Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular drivers license and be 18 years of age or older.Some position in this class may require skill in typing.
