Job Description

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a full-time Office Specialist - Front Desk worker to join its Clinical Support team and work in its Syracuse outpatient clinic.DBH is committed to providing exemplary customer services to its clients and employees. As a member of the Clinical Support team the Office Specialist - Front Desk positions perform essential tasks related to making clients feel welcome and valued when they check in for appointments. Office Specialists are the first point of contact for most of the DBH clients when coming for treatment and create the critical first impression.Essential Job FunctionsThe Office Specialist - Front Desk must be able to perform the following essential job functions:Greet clients in a prompt warm and friendly manner.Gather client and insurance information efficiently and accurately.Request collect and process co-pays and other payments from clients at the time of service.Convey all necessary information related to the clients appointment.Work within DBHs electronic medical record system and have a working knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy laws.Answer telephones screen calls take messages and provide information to the appropriate source when necessary.Monitor the work area to ensure that it remains safe secure and well-maintained.Be knowledgeable about the crisis system and know when and how to activate it.All other duties as assigned related to the needs of the organization.The clinical support staff at DBH provide the first impression for its clients and play an important role in helping clients who may be struggling with their mental health which is why providing excellent customer service in a prompt manner is critical.ScheduleMonday through Thursday 7:45 am to 3:45 pmFriday 7:45AM-5PMRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Must have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license.Must complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.All employees at DBH must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check as well as a pre-employment drug screening. Since Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants the company and its employees must comply with the Federal drug laws including no use of medical marijuana.Desired Skills & AbilitiesAbility to provide exceptional customer service to DBH clients and employees.Proficiently utilize required systems and/or equipment related to performing essential functions of the job.Ability to work independently and effectively.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Ability to maintain client confidentiality.CompensationStarting pay for this position is $18.25 per hour.Required ExperienceMinimum QualificationsThe successful candidate must:Be at least 18 years old.Have a high school diploma or equivalent.Possess strong verbal communication skills.Have demonstrated professional customer service experience.Demonstrate compassion courtesy and respect to all clients and their families.Have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish immediate rapport with clients.Desired SkillsIn addition to the required minimum qualifications the successful candidate is expected to have have the following skills:Computer knowledge including keyboarding (typing) skills.Possess proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other computer programs.Previous experience working in a medical office and/or familiarity with medical terminology preferred.Experience with business office equipment (credit card machines fax machines printers etc.) preferred.SpanishPreference will be given to candidates who are bi-lingual English/Spanish; however this is not a requirement.BenefitsDavis Behavioral Health Inc. offers an incredible valuable and comprehensive benefits packages to eligible employees.
