DEFINITION OF POSITION: Support building systems coordinated through the Main OfficeIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and/or DesigneeREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits/48 semester credits) at an institution of higher education or possess an associates (or higher) degree or completed one of the following: ETS ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher Pearson Paraprofessional assessment or Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training ProgramProficiency using Microsoft Office applicationsWork effectively with elementary-age learnersPossess or obtain First Aid & CPR certification within 30 days of employmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with Skyward applicationsKnowledge of FERPA laws and proceduresBehavior management/communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS/ABILITIES AND ACTIVITIESOffice operations and procedures. Greet visitors parents students and staff members in a welcoming manner and respond to inquiries. Answer phone calls in a pleasant informed manner for the purpose of providing information routing callers to the appropriate person/department and taking messages.Assist with confirming and documenting student absencesAssist with student/building behavior programs including de-escalation data entry and behavior management reportsAssist with copying filing using established systems. Ensure protection and security of files and records.Assist with district and State assessments (For example MAPs/State Assessments)Troubleshoot and maintain office equipmentAssist building principal with administrative tasks and other duties as assignedRecess duties a minimum of 2 hours per day - including playground/cafeteria/student pick-up and drop-off supervision/crossing guard dutiesHealth room coverage a minimum of 1 hour per day. Assist with student health needs nursing tasks and the dispersing of medications per procedures and as delegated by the school nurse or building administrator including but not limited to medication administration including oral medications eye drops ear drops topical medications inhalers and epi-pens; providing standard first aid; attend to student hygiene needs; monitoring blood sugar; documentation (charting in health room and medication logs); and monitoring and keeping necessary supplies maintained and stockedGeneral Characteristics:Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff parents community members other agencies etc.); possess cultural awareness and sensitivityBe a positive team builder who works in a collaborative mannerMeet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality workMaintain confidentiality and be honest and trustworthyCommunicate clearly both orally and in writingWork in multiple settings and be willing to be trained in a variety of areasRegularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance actions decisions and overall performanceMay require lifting 20 lbs. and prolong periods of standing/walking aroundWork with minimal supervision and be flexibleTERMS OF CONTRACT:Salary: General Paraeducator: $23.30 - $26.97/hourLength of Contract: 6.75 hours/day (7:50 a.m. 3:05 p.m.) 180 days/year plus two additional district directed daysBenefits/Leaves: Medical dental vision life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).
