Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The District Attorneys Office of Laramie County is seeking highly motivated organized and professional applicants for an Office Support Specialist position. Under the direction and supervision of the District Attorney and Deputy District Attorney this position serves as the main receptionist for all incoming phone calls visitors and documents; under limited supervision this position performs a wide range of general and agency-specific office administrative and legal secretarial tasks including greetings the public victims witnesses defense attorneys and law enforcement as well as providing general legal support requiring comprehensive knowledge of pertinent rules regulations policies and procedures as needed for the office of the District Attorney.The State of Wyomings total compensation package is excellent and includes:Paid annual and sick leavePaid holidaysRetirement with employer contributionsDeferred Compensation Plan with employer contributionsHealth insurance with an employer contribution toward premiumsInsurance options for health dental life vision ambulance and short and long-termdisabilityLongevity payHuman Resource Contact: Stacy Berres / /ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.Acts as a specialist in the assigned area performing general office and reception duties including legal secretary responsibilities.Receives and reviews incoming documents ensuring proper filing in the document database.Resolves problems and makes recommendations for improvements.Performs specialized tasks and coordinates general office functions related to the District Attorneys Office.Maintains and reviews case files to determine actions to be taken.Evaluates information for accuracy.Files legal documents with the appropriate courts.QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference will be given to applicants with progressive work experience in Business Office Communications as well asprogressive work experience in the criminal justice system.KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of applicable federal state and local laws codes regulations and policies technical processes and procedures related to the departments.Knowledge of general office skills plus a comprehensive knowledge of pertinent rules regulations policies and procedures.Knowledge of techniques for providing a high level of customer service.Knowledge of office procedures standards and practices.Knowledge of legal concepts terminology principles and procedures.Knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel computer programs.Ability to work independently with frequent interruption.Skill in operation of multi-line telephone data entry computer and related office equipment.Skill in organization and establishing priorities.Skill in writing correspondence and attention to detail.Skill in working with the public and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people including victims and witnesses of crimes especially in difficult situations or times of high stress.Skill in record keeping.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Associates Degree (typically in Business)Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant IIOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant IICertificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however there may be some walking standing bending carrying light items etc.Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.Frequent walking to and from the Courts.NOTES:FLSA: Non-ExemptSpecial Note: This is an At-Will position and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney pursuant to W.S.(c)Supplemental InformationClickhere to view the State of Wyoming Classification and Pay Structure.URL: State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.Class Specifications are subject to change please refer to the A & I HRD Website to ensure that you have the most recent version.Required Experience:IC Key Skills Children Activity,Access Control,Human Resources Administration,Government,Actuary,Hydraulics Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1 Hourly Salary Salary: 18 - 20
