Provides advisory information to the Physician on technical ultrasound data. Participates in research projects by collecting data and performing special ultrasound studies of animals and human subjects. Assists in training other junior level staff.Essential Functions: Completes ultrasound request forms to determine study technique based on clinical information provided by the referring physicians.Administers anesthetic drops and coupling agent to the patients eye while reassuring and explaining the procedures.Performs Contact B-scan Immersion scan Standardized A-scan Color DopplerAnalysis UBM and Axial Length measurements and identifies potential complications of the scan and refers the patient to the retina resident in the event of a complication. Calculates intraocular lens power and verifies reliability of calculations based on the keratometry readings provided on the requisition.Evaluates clarity and accuracy of ultrasound data.
