Available to work full time 8:00 am - 5:00pm, with the occasional early start (5:00-6:00 am). Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and perform manual labor as needed. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly. Physical movement to include kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting and standing. Job Description: The Horticultural Science Department, UF/IFAS Horticultural Science Research Grove is looking for someone to join our team as a full-time field technician. The following list is not all-inclusive, nor does it cover the full extent of duties to be performed: Fieldwork involving propagation, planting and cultivation of peaches, citrus and avocado trees. Data collection at experimental trials and analyses in the greenhouse and laboratory. Monitor the trees requirements and control measurements on microbial or insect infestations. Maintain maps and records of materials and activities for trial. Assists researchers and personnel for planting, fertilizing, and pruning trees. Collect and prepare samples from trials (fruit, soil, leaf). Travel to research tree fruit locations in central and south Florida. Expected Salary: $15-$20/hour commensurate with experienceRequired Qualifications: Valid driver's license.
