A turbine controls
engineer’s primary role is to execute complete controls packages for projects
based on project specific requirements including standard options and special
features. This includes creating specifications for equipment including DCS,
vibration monitoring equipment, speed sensors, combustion dynamics monitoring
equipment, and others. It also involves the adaption of reference logic to
project specific code and often the creation of custom logic for special
customer requests. A controls engineer is expected to be knowledgeable of the
Turbine core, operation of the turbine, and the mechanical packages that make
up the overall Turbine Package.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Implementation of Package
Equipment Controls for Siemens Energy Turbines in Orlando using reference
designs and adapting project specific needs. Coordinate and support multiple
disciplines to ensure functional designs are consistent for implementation of
controls concepts.
- Document and communicate
lessons learned and potential cost improvement ideas with the Research &
Design and Customer Order Engineering teams.
- Execute specifications, bid
reviews, and documentation reviews for project specific procured components.
- Perform design, testing and
modifications of solutions using T3000 controls platform. Interface with
External and Internal Customers on the design of the control system to ensure
acceptance of the delivered product.
- Provide engineering
estimates for additional work requests including both hardware and manhour
impacts or for overall projects being proposed or modifications to existing
projects.
- Provide support remotely or
in person as needed to site execution team (including Site Readiness Reviews)
to assist in smooth site commissioning. · Travel as required primarily for site
support and system testing effort
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related, internship experience in power industry and controls discipline preferred
- Ability to clearly
communicate complex issues with persons of various backgrounds (in particular,
those not familiar with the technical subject being addressed).
- Experience with control
systems, system control, and operational design.
- Identifies early, potential
risks to task completion to support timely resolution of issues and on-time
implementation.
- Manage product changes
through the use of documented change processes to ensure high levels of quality
and minimal Non-conformances.
- Reads and understands P&IDs and identifies
signals for DCS I/O list · Support other activities as required to ensure high
performance of the team
