Position: Teaching Artist Intern Program: Emerging ProfessionalsDepartment: Education & EngagementReports To: ADC Youth Programs ManagerClassification: Temporary Paid Educational Internship SummerCompensation: $21.30Posting Date: 11/3/2025Application Review Period: 11/4/2025 - 1/4/2026Start Date: 6/15/2026Internship Program Summary:The Administrative Internship program is an exciting opportunity to learn how to be a professional office administrator by gaining hands-on experience during SCTs largest educational program of the year. This is a paid educational internship and is considered a job with an additional learning program within the responsibilities of the position.Through this program the administrative intern will develop familiarity with database operations systems and their basic functionality broaden and engage customer service skills practice and evolve problem solving strategies and observe assist and learn from multiple administrative positions at SCT. Our goal is to ensure individuals finalize their internship feeling confident about what it means to be an administrative professional and support a large-scale educational program.About SCT:Since its inception in 1975 the Seattle Childrens Theatre (SCT) has served more than 4 million children for 45 seasons of creative professional theatre and arts education classes for the Puget Sound region and is one of the most prominent theatre organizations for young audiences in the United States and the world. SCTs mission is to provide children of all ages access to professional theatre with a focus on new works and theatre education.Intern Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supports day-to-day administrative tasks such as: maintaining phone and email inboxes creation of guardian communications processing and distributing student information and keeping track of inventory and classroom supplies and program scheduling support.Communicates with guardians interns and teaching artists via email phone and in person.Assists with class registration and database management.Point ofcontact for Extended Care before and after daytime camp.Coordinates technology supply rentalsSupports Teaching Artists in the classroom with potential opportunities to step in as a substitute classroom assistant.Assists staff and faculty with students needs.Supportsand attends programming in the field. Other duties as assigned.Program Schedule & Syllabus: Consistent schedule Monday Friday; Schedules may vary based on class coverage needs and extended care schedule.Camp hours are between 9:00 am 4:00 pmMorning Extended Care; 8:00 9:00 amNote: Depending on camp needs there might be occasional schedule shifts for afternoon extended care from 4:00 5-:30 pmMandatory program dates are June 8 2026 August 21 2026; Observed holiday during this time is June 19Required learning activations for program credit result in an administrative portfolio that include:Weekly meetings with administrative mentor(s) Attending relevant learning workshops Shadowing and interviewing admin staff in collaborating departments Extended care reflection Administrative capstone projectProgram Benefits $766.80/week (36 hours/week) of supporting camp administration and extended care. Compensation is applicable to payroll taxes.Verifiable in-field experience from one of the most prominent theatres for young audiences in the United States. Program verification for college credit.396 hours of administrative practicum.44hours of program learningFree ORCA Passport transportation pass or Seattle Center parking pass.Candidate Skills and Qualifications:Emerging professional in higher education institutions as a rising junior senior or graduate student.Dedication to theatre education and/or theatre for young audiences. Commitment to social justice work. Familiarity with using Microsoft Outlook Teams Excel and Word.Strong leadership communication organizational time management and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage and direct multiple tasks concurrently and provide follow through.Highly organized strong attention to detail and time management.Patientwith young people and customer service.Must be an independent thinker and doer while being a collaborative effective team player.Data shows that women and BIPOC candidates more frequently do not apply because they dont feel that they meet all of the qualifications listed.
