Job Description
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:Clinical Excellence/patient careAssists nursing with delivers high quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills in accordance with established policies procedures and standards of care while in the Emergency Department.Provide high quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills with established protocols while in the ambulance setting.Triage patients presenting to the Emergency Department and/or with EMS servicesUtilizes an age appropriate holistic approach for the patients and families seeking emergency services.Assist/float to other areas to assist with clinical and non-clinical functions as needed and/or as assignedClinical Excellence/qualityAccurately and promptly restock ambulance and patient rooms after every callPromptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal document including medication administration in both the ambulance and ED setting.Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies procedures and safety guidelines.Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular reliable attendance.Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA DIA DNV OSHA EMTALA IDPH and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.QUALIFICATIONS:Complete certification requirements for an EMT from an accredited program or graduate from an accredited school of EMS.Current EMT or Paramedic certification required.Certification in good standing from the Iowa Department of Public Health EMS bureau.BLS certification within 6 months of hire.Valid drivers license. EVOC or equivalent within 1 year of employmentMandatory Reporting within 6 months of hire.Adaptability with influx or outflow of patients being able to triage patients according to level of injury illness with the most critical patient taking precedence when there are multiple.Customer/patient focused.Critical thinking skills using judgment in making decisions.Must be able to read write and understand English.Shifts & Schedule: Nights (7p-7a)On-Call: 12-24 hours per pay periodWeekends: Every 5thHolidays: Every other Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
