Join the SBS faculty for the 2025-2026 school year!The Stony Brook School seeks a talented mission-aligned part-time faculty member to join our Visual Arts Department. . This role will focus on our ceramics program teaching one section of Ceramics I and two sections of Ceramics II during the upcoming spring semester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ceramics including experience with wheel-thrown work.Founded in 1922 The Stony Brook School is a co-ed Christian college-prep boarding and day school for grades 7-12 on a 55-acre campus on Long Islands North Shore. We unite academic rigor with authentic Christian faith in a diverse global community.All candidates should have a demonstrable Christian commitment and an educational philosophy that is consistent with The Stony Brook Schools mission.. The ideal candidate will have:Bachelors of Art or Bachelors of Fine Arts in Visual Arts Arts Education or a related field (masters degree strongly preferred)Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop as a teacher mentor and colleagueExcellent oral and written communication skillsEagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formationProficiency with technology and a desire to incorporate technology into the classroomExperience with ceramics including wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques along with familiarity in studio processes such as glazing kiln loading/firing and safe effective ceramics classroom managementDesire to contribute to various aspects of school life (advisor dorm parent coach club sponsor)Why SBSThe Stony Brook School is an exceptional place to teach live and grow.
