DescriptionThis is a part time temporary custodial position at an Aspire Benjamin Holt Middle School.About Aspire:Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing college preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. Every day our community of students families teachers and staff comes together to learn work and play in an environment grounded in our values of Bienestar (Well-Being) Culture of Belonging Community Partnership Agency & Self-Determination and Joy.JOB SUMMARYThe Custodian cleans and maintains the school facility to ensure a safe secure and comfortable environment conducive to student learning.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCleans classrooms restrooms hallways multipurpose room offices staff lounge and all interior and exterior areas of school.Sets up and cleans the dining area before between during and after breakfast and/or lunch periods.Responds to emergency cleanups during the day such as clogged drains and spills.Performs minor routine maintenance including replacing lights changing filters etc.Performs minor routine grounds-keeping duties including picking up litter weeding mowing the lawn.Reports required repair work to proper parties.Sets up and arranges furniture for assemblies meetings and special events.Maintains awareness and readiness to respond to safety/security needs of students staff and facilities.Demonstrate knowledge of and support the Aspire Public Schools mission vision value statements including antiracism policies and procedures operating instructions confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior Perform other related duties as required and assigned.QUALIFICATIONSCompetencies:Knowledge of safe and efficient use of cleaning materials chemicals tools and equipmentAbility to complete minor maintenance e.g. replace light bulb filtersAbility and willingness to safely meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the required duties including ability to lift carry push pull and move heavy objects on a regular basisAbility to maintain simple recordsAbility to work independentlyAbility to interact appropriately with children of different ages in school setting respecting and understanding boundaries.Experience required:1-3 years of custodial experience preferredPhysical requirements:Stand walk or bend over kneel crouch reach overhead grasp push and pull. Move lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder heightRepetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation simple grasping and power grasping)Demonstrate normal depth perceptionSitting walking or standing for extended periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard operate standard office equipment and use a telephoneSee and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aidsHear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aidesCompensation: Aspire Public Schools is dedicated to our teammates well-being!
