The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.Job Summary The Department of Health Sciences is seeking a Part-Time Faculty member in the Emergency Medical Services Program.The candidate will be responsible for assistant the Program Director and Clinical coordinator with meeting and maintaining accreditation requirements, precepting clinical rotation, and assisting with student performance and success.Sponsorship is not available for this position.Responsibilities The part-time EMS Faculty Member is responsible for relevant accreditation compliance, compliance with clinical Preceptor requirements as described in ACEMAPP, participation in program committee meetings, program planning, and the overall development of the clinical learning program.The part-time faculty member is also responsible for collaborating with other program faculty, the Clinical Coordinator, and Program Director. Additional administrative functions include:Assisting with the instruction of students in EMS lab skills and performing skills evaluations.Attending program meetings, participating in continuing education workshops, and contributing to program evaluation is important. Serve as a member and attend meetings of the program Advisory Committee.Meeting specific program accreditation standards/essentials.Maintaining current professional credentials.Perform duties as assigned by the Program Director.Supervision of clinical learning events.Complete all clinical preceptor training and maintain current standards.In addition to these core responsibilities, a part-time faculty member may also be involved in:Contributing to the advisory board for the EMS program.Assisting with efforts to attract and retain students.Participating in the assessment and revision of the EMS program. Required Qualifications Candidates applying for this position must have the following qualifications:Current certification as a Georgia AEMT or Paramedic.Minimum of 2 years of licensed prehospital experience.Preferred Qualifications Current certification as a Georgia EMS Instructor/Coordinator at the AEMT level or above preferred but not required.Proposed Salary Salary Range is from $25 to $35 per hour for part-time instruction. A list of at least 3 professional references with their contact information.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities The part-time EMS faculty member must possess the qualifications and skills necessary to perform the teaching and clinical leadership and management functions identified by Albany State University as appropriate for this role. This role involves a variety of other professional duties and responsibilities relevant to service at the campus wide-level. Those include:Excellent mastery of psychomotor skills used in the prehospital setting.Ability to set up skills stations, develop scenarios, demonstrate, teach, and grade students in the lab environment. Ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences for students. Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.Ability to manage clinical rotations by assigning students to ED staff and remaining in the area with the students to supervise patient assessment, IV sticks, medication administration and other techniques as needed.
