The position leads group discussions and problem solving sessions designed to improve student learning of course material.This is a temporary grant funded position through June 30 year 2026 contingent upon grantor funding and grant extensions.This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.What you will be doing Provides academic support to students and/or additional support to faculty and staffAssists faculty with facilitating active learning activities in the classroom Serves as a role model and motivator for students to achieve and assists with their academic needsEngages in weekly planning sessions with lead faculty member for assigned courseReceives training in course content, pedagogy and activitiesCompletes status reportsMaintains a time and activity log of Learning Assistant activitiesMonitors student progress or laboratory conditions and needsGuides students through the use of educational software and equipment in labsProvides extra assistance to students with special needsAttends all class sessions for the course section assignedPerforms other duties as assignedWhat you need to succeed High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and completion of one (1) specified college disciplined courseMust be enrolled in a regionally accredited educational institution and in good academic standingMust have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 averageMust have completed the assigned course (or a more advanced course in the same sequence) with a grade of 3.0 or higherKnowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresPossess the ability to engage students in course activities and materialsAbility to work well with students, faculty and staffPossess excellent oral and written communication skillsBe detail-oriented and highly organizedPossess strong interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft applicationsAbility to demonstrate genuine motivation in dealing with peopleAbility to effectively speak and present information in front of a groupAbility to work flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignmentsAdditional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
