Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants is looking to hire a part-time Medical Assistant to join our busy practice! Day in the Life The Medical Assistant (MA) provides outstanding support to physicians and healthcare providers while providing exceptional care to patients and customers within the clinical scope of a MA. The MA ensures that patients are welcomed in a warm and friendly manner and sees that their needs and expectations are met. MAs are responsible for ensuring the smooth operations in the fast paced environment of the clinic with the goal of a positive patient experience with every encounter. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performing administrative office procedures; coordinating appointments and procedures for patients gathering and managing necessary documents (i.e. medical records test results ect)Triage patients and respond to phone calls and messagesPerforming clinical activities and procedures including; obtaining patient history and vital signs; including weight/height and triaging patients upon arrival including Meaningful Use requirementsPreparing and maintaining examination and procedure roomsAssisting with examinations procedures and treatments (i.e. applying casts DMEs removing sutures and other related dutiesPerform injectable set upPerform pre-authorizations for surgeries and injectable Submit ERMA referral for Advocate HMO patients if necessaryRecognizing and responding to emergenciesCoordinating patient care information in patient recordsEnsuring availability expiration dates of supplies Knowledge of proper operation of equipment in the examination and procedure roomsAssisting and maintaining a clean and safe work environmentMaintain OSHA and HIPAA compliance at all timesCompleting other comparable duties and assignments as directed by Physician Physician Assistant and/or Clinical Staff ManagerEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or equivalent.Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program and have received certificationCPR certified preferredPrevious experience in Orthopaedics setting preferred and urgent care setting is a preferred but not requiredExperience with Electronic Medical Records systems and other medical systemsWorking Conditions/Physical Demands:Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of timeOccasionally lifts and caries items weighing up to 50 poundsRequires working under stressful conditions and having a flexible schedulePotential exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluidsTravels between both locations Oak Lawn and Orland ParkRequires flexible schedule with day and evenings with ocassional Saturdays when needed Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants is an Equal Opportunity qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race color religion sex sexual orientation gender identity Veteran status disability or national origin.
