JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTSPenn State World Campus is currently accepting applications for a part-time Military Benefits Outreach & Veterans Programs/Financial Aid Coordinator - this is a remote position.The successful candidate will adhere to the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and University policies and procedures; provide professional counseling for student Veterans on financial academic or personal matters including the transition to the civilian/University environment; participate in the DVA certification process in compliance with DVA regulations and procedures and review/update process as needed due to changes in legislation/student or University needs; stay up-to-date on current Undergraduate/Graduate requirements in order to provide accurate information regarding the correct process for applying for military educational benefits or other Veterans benefits.This position also provides financial aid counseling to students and parents; assists in the administration of the financial aid program; makes decisions to award funds to students eligible for scholarships and federal work-study; is responsible for the dissemination of information on student financial assistance through email phone and additional channels to students and other constituents.More specifically the job responsibilities are as follows:Serve as a School Certifying Official a primary point of contact for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits; process and maintain VA certification operations in compliance with federal and university policiesAssist in the development of training materials to ensure compliance with federal state and institutional policiesServe as primary point of contact for inbound inquiries from military-connected students via phone email and virtual appointments.Conduct and possibly manage outbound proactive campaigns to military-connected populationEnsure compliance with University and federal policies and proceduresAdvise and counsel students and parents regarding the financial aid processProvide in-take services taking student/parent phone calls and responding to emailAnalyze and evaluate student financial needs and advise on availability of financial assistanceDevelop and maintain strong working knowledge of all federal state and University student aid regulations policies and proceduresResponsible for reviewing/awarding World Campus scholarshipsWork with the Office of Student Aids Application and Eligibility Services staff to monitor both eligibility and review aid processesCollaborate with other campus aid representatives University personnel and outside agencies in the administration of aid applicants verification and certification eligibility reviews programsBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICSPursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988 Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security such as those concerning alcohol and drug use crime prevention the reporting of crimes sexual assault and other matters.
