Job Title: Part-Time Professional Coordinator/Program Advisor, School of Education Location: Padron Campus Regular/Temporary: Temporary Full/Part Time: Part-Time Job ID: 1008636 Job Details Job FamilySTAFF - Support StaffGradeHFSalary$21.80 - $29.80DepartmentSchool of EducationReports ToProgram ManagerClosing DateOpen Until FilledFLSA StatusNon-ExemptFirst Review DateAugust 04, 2025Position Overview The School of Education (SOE) Advisor provides educational guidance, advisement and operational support for the School of Education programs and its three departments: Early Childhood Education, K-12 Teacher Education Programs and the Center for Professional Development.What you will be doing Recommends courses and programs of study for new, continuing and transferring, certification and recertification studentsAdvises students regarding admissions, academic testing and graduation requirementsConducts case management activities for a large number of studentsProvides individual career advisement to students and assists students in defining and clarifying their educational goalsMaintains regular communication with students regarding their academic progressTracks individual student performance and ensures that the BS applicants have completed the minimum requirements for admission to the programsAssists students in completing the BS admission application process (paper and online) and follows up for retention purposesTracks individual student performance and ensures that the BS graduates have completed their academic requirements and paperwork for graduationAdvises and assists students with academic difficultiesTracks student performance, participation and enrollment in the SOE programsCreates, updates, tracks and maintains B.S. student enrollment and reporting databases for State Program Reports and Audits and ascertains program recruitment, enrollment, and completion reviews; approves Program Review Audits and student Individual Education Plans (IEP)Assists the Recruitment Manager with planning recruitment and retention activities for all SOE programsCoordinates with Admission, General Advisement, Veteran Affairs, and ISS representatives across all MDC campuses to maintain accurate student degree audit informationRepresents the School of Education at College and Miami Dade Community fairs and other venues to recruit students for the SOE programsMaintains and protects the privacy of program participants and their files, electronic or paper, in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education requirementsPerforms other duties as assignedWhat you need to succeed Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related work experience in Counseling, Social Work, Education, AdvisementAll degress should be from a regionally accredited institutionKnowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresAbility to organize and deliver presentations to audiencesProficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and related computer programsPossesses excellent organizational and decision-making skillsPossesses strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, coworkers and the general publicKnowledge of discipline specific materials, industry stand practices, industry employment opportunitiesAbility to read and interpret documents such as school reports, databases, course catalogs and transcriptsAbility to exercise discretion and independent judgment when completing daily assignmentsAbility to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignmentsAbility to travel to other College campuses, other educational institutions and outreach centers as required by the positionAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to work well with students, faculty and staffAdditional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
