As a PT Specialist III, TRiO Peer Support, this position assists other students in adjusting to college life. Required to provide high level of information. Will interact one-on-one and in group setting with students. Will work with and assist diverse groups and provide a high level of customer service and support to TRiO students. This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides general information related to TRIO SSSGuides students in developing accountability for their decisions and in understanding how those decisions impact their success. Assists students with study skills, time management, academic course intervention, and other college-related skills areas as neededSets appointments with students in TRIO SSS for the purpose of mentoring support. Coordinates tutor and tutee meetingsRecords, prepares, maintains, and reviews forms, and performs data entryProvides handouts and/or forms to potential TRIO SSS participantsPlans a variety of TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) events and activitiesParticipates in panels for TRIO SSS workshops and visiting groupsAssists with or provides event preparation & gives campus toursMaintains knowledge of multiple programsResponsible for other reasonable, related job duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong customer service skillsStrong interpersonal skillsGood organizational skillsAnalytical and problem solving skillsStrong communication skills (written and oral)Working knowledge of general office procedures and practicesProficiency with common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Ability to effectively take notesPHYSICAL ABILITIES:The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile.
