Provides reference service at the Reference Desks under the supervision of reference librarians.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provides reference assistance to library users using print and non-print materialsAssists library users with the online catalog, electronic databases, and other online systemsProvides library users with directional information in locating materialsAnswers telephone, chat and text reference questions and refers users to appropriate resourcesAssists users with equipment usage and computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PublisherAssists users in locating digital media in the digital media catalog and helps users to download eBooks and audio books to mobile devicesParticipates in library programming such as computer workshops, story times, crafts, book clubs and seminarsMaintains photocopier and printers in reference area, ensuring paper and toner is full, machines are clean, and contacting the Office of Technology Services as needed for any technical issuesAssists users in checking out materials from the libraryResponsible for other reasonable, related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of Microsoft productsKnowledge of basic/common technology Excellent communication and customer service skillsGood problem solverAbility to multitaskAbility to work without daily supervisionPHYSICAL ABILITIES:The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile.
