Job Description
The Pastry Chef oversees the production of all pastries for an Eataly including: Italian pasticcini cakes desserts cookies candies and other dolci. Reports directly to the Executive Chef and reports functionally to the Head of Pastry; manages a pastry team of about 10 employees.Directs and participates in the production of all pastry items for Eatalys counters and restaurantsManages the pastry team: hires; schedules; submits payroll; provides feedback and motivation; trains on Italian pastry production principles and practices; coaches and counsels; handles terminationsVerifies all foods prepared meet quality standards in terms of portion size flavor texture and consistencyProduces decorative centerpieces and special ordersOrders and requisitions all supplies for the pastry shopCommunicates with the Executive Chef and Pastry Quality Head on new recipes Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standardsPerforms other duties as required or assignedQualifications : 6 years of experience in a high-volume pastry preparation positionKnowledge of Italian pastries and techniquesOutstanding communication and leadership skillsIntermediate computer skillsDegree from a post-secondary culinary/pastry arts training program preferredJob RequirementsAvailability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings and weekendsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours including standing walking bending and squattingAbility to use a burning oven commercial stand mixer and other pastry baking equipmentAdditional Information : Benefits and PerksMedical Dental Vision InsurancePaid Time OffPaid Parental Leave401K with match or RRSPBonus programFree family meal dailyDiscounts at EatalyClasses on products and Italian cuisineReferral bonus programand more!Remote Work : NoEmployment Type : Full-time Key Skills Culinary Experience,Food Handling,Restaurant Experience,Food Preparation Experience,Kitchen Experience,Hotel Experience,Taleo,Cake Decorating,Cooking,Baking,Sanitation,Knife Skills Experience: years Vacancy: 1
