The ideal candidate will have a record of clinical excellence strong teaching abilities and scholarly interests. Responsibilities for the role include clinical radiology practice; nurturing a robust and growing educational program for students residents and fellows; and participating in a research or scholarship portfolio which may include clinical health care delivery and/or education research.The OrganizationDenver Health is an integrated efficient academic health care system that is considered a model for the nation. Denver Healths Level 1 Trauma Center is one of the worlds leading trauma centers and has amongst the highest survival rates in the country. The trauma center sees 18000 patients annually 2700 of whom are admitted and many of whom arrive as transfers from any one of 60 regional hospitals. The trauma service is extraordinarily academically productive with millions in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and United States Department of Defense (DoD). The seminal text Trauma was authored by Denver Health faculty.Denver Health is affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM). All faculty at Denver Health have CU SOM appointments and are valued participants in a variety of educational research and clinical collaborations. Faculty have access to the academic and cultural resources of Denver Health CU SOM and other affiliate institutions.Position SummaryThe candidate being sought will participate in the delivery of outpatient and inpatient pediatric radiology services including MR CT US radiography and basic pediatric procedures including fluoroscopy. Given the volume and strength of the ED and trauma service at Denver Health there is an emphasis on providing advanced cutting edge and highly collaborative care in the acute setting. Most of the imaging volume however is outpatient with Denver Health providing a full gamut of ambulatory imaging addition to the imaging services currently offered Denver Health seeks to continuously improve and innovate.While the position will be primarily based at Denver Health clinical time at Childrens Hospital Colorado may also be considered as a percentage of overall clinical effort based on candidate interest experience and subspecialty expertise. Remote work-from-home shifts are possible and supported depending on day-to-day departmental needs for in-person procedural and teaching needs.Denver Health radiologists participate in the education of University of Colorado medical students radiology and IR/DR residents and fellows. There is a strong desire to continue to expand our educational offerings.The Department values patient-centered care and a highly collaborative work environment. There is a strong working relationship with pediatrics surgery hospital medicine and primary care.Reporting StructureThe radiologist will report to the Department Chair of Radiology. The department benefits from excellent administrative support. All radiology staff (technologists radiology RNs transporters clerks etc.) report within the department not to an external hierarchy so there is alignment of staff and faculty towards the goals of the department.Candidate Qualifications:Education/Academic CredentialsM.D. D.O. or foreign equivalent medical degree; board certification in Radiology; fellowship training and/or extensive experience in pediatric radiology preferred; eligibility for licensure in Colorado.New graduates and experienced radiologists are encouraged to apply.ExperienceCandidates should be competent in all imaging modalities including basic pediatric procedures/fluoroscopy.The ideal candidate will be competent in interpretating non-pediatric ED studies on call including radiography and CT modalities.Prior record of academic or educational scholarship is preferred.Experience in teaching students and/or trainees is preferred.Position Details Salary and Benefits Denver Health offers full benefits including an attractive 401(a) Social Security replacement savings program a 457(b) retirement savings program and employer matching contributions (9.5%).
