The Congenital Heart Center at Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) seeks to recruit a Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to join our growing faculty. The Pediatric Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Cardiologist provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and those undergoing evaluation for and management after heart transplantation. This physician will be a core member of a multidisciplinary advanced cardiac therapies team, delivering high‑quality inpatient and outpatient care while contributing to program development, education, and research.

Position Highlights:

Clinical Care--

  • Provide specialized inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric patients with advanced heart failure, cardiomyopathy, congenital and acquired heart disease, and post‑transplant conditions
  • Lead and participate in heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support (MCS/VAD) evaluations, selection, and listing processes
  • Manage pre‑ and post‑heart transplant patients, including immunosuppression, rejection surveillance, and long‑term outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with cardiac surgery, critical care, transplant surgery, infectious disease, immunology, nephrology, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and allied health professionals
  • Participate in on‑call coverage for advanced heart failure, transplant, and mechanical support services
  1. The position offers the opportunity to practice within a collaborative, high‑acuity academic environment dedicated to innovation, family‑centered care, and clinical excellence.

Programmatic & Multidisciplinary Engagement--

  • Actively contribute to the growth and continuous improvement of the pediatric heart failure and transplant program, participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives and support regulatory and accreditation requirements related to pediatric transplant services.

Education & Research--

  1. Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers, participate in academic conferences, case reviews, and multidisciplinary teaching activities and engage in clinical research, outcomes research, or translational science aligned with program goals (as appropriate to academic rank).

Requirements:

  • Completion of an ACGME‑accredited Pediatric Cardiology fellowship with board certification or board eligibility through the American Board of Pediatrics at the time of hire.
  • Completion of a fourth‑year advanced fellowship in Pediatric Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation.
  • Must meet all qualifications to serve as a Primary Pediatric Heart Transplant Physician as defined by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the comprehensive care of pediatric patients with advanced heart failure, including participation in transplant evaluation, listing, peri‑transplant management, and post‑transplant follow‑up.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary pediatric heart failure and transplant team, including pediatric cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cardiac intensive care, and transplant services.
  • Clinical responsibilities will include balanced participation in both inpatient and outpatient Heart Failure and Heart Transplant services. Clinical expertise in pediatric mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices, including ventricular assist devices, is required.
