Peer Support Counselors are people who have lived experience in the mental health judicial and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models companions educators and advocates to our clients. The Peer Support Counselors will support clients in moving toward recovery creating a meaningful role in their life which is separate from their illness.Division/Program Overview:Peer Support Counselors provide services to clients within the community and at assigned sites integrating identified practices into their support. They offer one-on-one support mentoring and role-modeling to clients and family members helping them navigate peer support wellness services and other resources within the behavioral health system and community. They link clients to resources such as housing food education vocation recreation spiritual guidance mentors and health services. Collaborating with Treatment Team members they assist in developing care and safety plans provide direct service and skill development and help clients communicate with other providers and agencies. They advocate on behalf of clients promote self-advocacy and document services as necessary.Learn more about SBHG at: Additional Information:In accordance with California law the grade for this position is 17.46 - 24.44.
