Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIESProvide person centered wellness focused support to engage individuals in treatment and to promote use of the individual’s wellness recovery plan; share first hand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and in their communities and support individuals in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency and self–advocacy; will function within the consumer’s treatment team and will receive individual supervision; will have knowledge of the signs and symptoms of Mental Illness and Substance Disorders and the ability to assist the individual to address symptoms using their individual wellness plan; provide Peer Support; serve as a consumer advocate; carry out wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use disorders and support functions; promote recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions; promote employment, education, health, and community integration; and serve as a role model for personal recovery; provide outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, consultation to families, development of functional skills and appropriate behavior, transportation to implement the individual service plan, and similar functions; services may be rendered in the group setting or on an individual basis; may participate in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community; works closely with staff, hospital, law enforcement agencies and other community agencies and organizations; documents all contacts, activities in the individuals’ records; other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTSMinimum RequirementsM1: High school diploma or GEDM2: Valid drivers’ license and safe driving recordM3: Must be, or have previously been a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services for a mental illness or substance use disorder and should be well along in the recovery process Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request.
