Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Peer Recovery Support Specialist- QLALocation: McDowell and Wyoming Counties- Full-TimePosition Summary:The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) serves as an advocate and mentor for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. This role provides support, guidance, and resources to help individuals achieve personal goals and maintain sobriety. The PRSS facilitates skill-building activities, leads peer recovery groups, and assists individuals in managing life roles such as employee, parent, or student. Supportive services may also include transportation, medication reminders, or assistance with daily tasks.Key Responsibilities:Advocate for individuals in recovery and provide peer support.Lead peer recovery groups and facilitate relationship-building among participants.Mentor individuals in setting and achieving personal and recovery goals.Offer guidance in managing life roles and responsibilities.Provide supportive services as needed, including transportation, medication reminders, and assistance with daily living tasks.Share helpful resources and community referrals to enhance recovery outcomes.Education & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Lived experience of recovery from substance use disorders.Preferred: At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with substance use challenges.Minimum of two (2) years of sobriety required.State or nationally recognized peer certification or training as required by West Virginia.Qualifications:Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to lead groups and facilitate supportive discussions.Empathetic, patient, and committed to helping others achieve recovery goals.Knowledge of recovery resources and community support networks.
