Job Summary:The Peer Support Advocate (PSA) student assistant is a student employment opportunity at CSUSB focused on fostering a culture of care. PSAs play an important role in supporting the emotional and academic success of fellow studentsespecially those who identify as Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI)through peer-led outreach education and community-building.Responsibilities:Under direct supervision duties include but not limited to: Peer Support Drop-Ins: Assist in hosting weekly in-person or virtual drop-in hours to create a welcoming space where students can talk about stress academics time management or other personal concerns in a friendly peer-to-peer environment. Campus Resource Referrals: Help fellow students connect with campus services such as tutoring advising mental health support financial aid or student clubsoffering guidance without providing professional advice. Outreach and Engagement: Assist with tabling classroom presentations and wellness campaigns that promote mental health awareness academic support and belonging on campus. Community Building: Attend and support culturally affirming events at the APIDA Center and other campus partners to strengthen connections and promote inclusivity. Training and Reflection: Participate in all required training sessions and team meetings to grow your knowledge and skills in peer support outreach and wellness advocacy.Minimum Qualifications: Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty staff and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.Required Qualifications:Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)Eligible to work in the United StatesPayroll Requirement: Social Security CardPreferred Qualifications: Basic experience in peer mentoring peer advising outreach student clubs or leadership roles Awareness of or connection to AANHPI student experiences and identities Currently enrolled CSUSB student in good academic standing Good communication skills Commitment to supporting the well-being of fellow students Openness to learning teamwork and cultural humilityCompensation and Benefits:Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour.The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.Position Information:Work status: Part-Time Temporary SeasonalAcademic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm).Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).The application deadline is: January 5 2026; however the position may close when an adequate number of qualified applications are receivedThis is an On-Campus Only position.
