If you are interested please apply online and send your resume to POSITION SUMMARYThe Perinatal Clinical Liaison is responsible for collaborating with outside clinics that serve Martin Luther King Jr Community Hospital (MLKCH) and to facility the flow of patient information to the hospital and back to the clinics. They are responsible for providing educational opportunities to our patients as inpatients and outpatients as well as collaborating with the Perinatal Educator & Lactation Educator to provide staff education for the Perinatal Staff through in-services skills validations and management of unit specific competencies related to Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding Support and Education. This position requires broad and in-depth knowledge of childbirth education prenatal education lactation education and breastfeeding support for both inpatients and outpatients. The Perinatal Clinical Liaison will also be responsible for collaborating with the Lactation Educator and the Perinatal Educator on managing updating and providing education on perinatal policies related to their role. The Perinatal Clinical Liaison will also be expected to collaborate with the Lactation Educator on the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and the maintenance of their designation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops strategies to build and foster relationships with the outlying clinics that have patients that choose to deliver at MLKCHDevelop and maintain a schedule for making visits to the outlying clinics on a monthly basisCoordinate and provide the maternity tours for the HospitalHelp problem solve any issues that occur between the outlying clinics and the Perinatal Services DepartmentCoordinate programs conducts classes and or provides individualized instruction for both inpatients and outpatients related to childbirth and lactation/breastfeeding educationSupport and provide education to the patients in the community as referred by outlying clinicsDevelops learning objectives and measures outcomes of educational programs for patients and staffCoordinate with the Lactation Educator and assist the leadership with the planning and implementation of staff development programs related to lactation and childbirth educationWorks with the Lactation Educator to conducts an annual educational needs assessment for the Perinatal Services division related to childbirth education and lactation and plans activities to meet the needs identifiedCollaborates with the leadership team to develops performance improvement plans for nursing staff related to breastfeeding supportParticipates in organizational and community educational projects related to Perinatal Services Breastfeeding Support & Lactation ServicesDemonstrates knowledge of adult learner conceptsDemonstrates knowledge of current Childbirth Education Lactation Support and Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative requirementsDemonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures of the hospital and for providing community educational supportIndependently recognizes and performs duties which need to be done without being directly assigned.Establishes priorities; organizes work and time to meet them.Recognizes and responds to priorities accepts changes and new ideas.Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.Has insight into problems and the ability to develop workable alternatives.Accepts constructive criticism in a positive manner.Adheres to attendance and punctuality requirements per hospital policy. EducationAssociates degree required.Bachelors degree in a healthcare related field preferredB. Qualifications/Experience At least 2 years of experience working with OB patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting requiredInternal Board Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) or Internationally Board Certification Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) requiredChildbirth Educator certification preferredDoula experience preferredBe able to communicate with a variety of relevant entities and facilitate collaborative responsibilities and communication.Strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills.Strong organization and time management skills.Ability to be flexible and adapt to different situations.C.
