Job DescriptionJob DescriptionField Service Technician – Automation EquipmentLocation: Houston, TX (Home-based + local travel)Hire Type: Direct HireSalary: $60,000–$85,000 (DOE)Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PMTravel: ~75% (mostly within a 50-mile radius of Houston; statewide travel as needed)Our client, a leader in automation and SMT (Surface Mount Technology) machinery, is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the Houston region and greater Texas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex issues with automation equipment, and providing exceptional field and remote support.When not traveling, you’ll work from home delivering customer technical assistance, troubleshooting, and virtual training.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform installation, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on SMT automation and related machineryTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and mechatronic systemsInterpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and automation system diagramsDeliver technical support both onsite and remotelyConduct three software training classes for customer usersMaintain detailed service documentation and communicate findings to internal teamsTravel primarily within Texas using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed); rental cars provided for out-of-state travelWhat You BringBachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or related technical field)Experience with SMT equipment or automation-related machineryStrong mechanical/electrical diagnostic ability and PM experienceWorking knowledge of Windows operating systemsAbility to work independently, manage schedules, and provide outstanding customer supportExcellent communication skills and comfort interacting with both technical and non-technical audiencesAdditional NotesCandidates with strong technical experience but no degree will still be consideredRole requires flexibility and comfort with frequent travelPosition largely interacts with manufacturing customers and high-tech automation equipmentFull benefits package offered, including health coverage, paid time off, and other standard employee perks#inc1
