Job Description: PharmacistLocation: Pearland, TX On-SitePosition Summary: The Pharmacist is responsible for the supervision, and coordination of all activities in the Pharmacy Fulfillment area and the education of patients to administer these medications appropriately. The pharmacist provides direct oversight and supervision of the pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns in their duties and responsibilities to receive prescriptions, process prescriptions, dispense drugs and proper shipping and delivery of medications. The pharmacist assures oversight and safety of pharmacy operations.Interpret, review, and adjudicate prescriptionsPrepare and dispense appropriate medications to patientsCheck prescriptions for accuracyProvide medication therapy review; assess the appropriateness of the medication in accordance to patient’s medical historyContact prescribing physicians to discuss questions regarding prescriptions, coordination and continuity of treatmentProvide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage so patients can use their medications safely and effectivelyProvide personal counseling and education to the patientComply with state and federal laws pertaining to prescription preparation and dispensingHelp with policy development, - i.e., procedures for improved workflowEnsure maintenance of stock and storing and proper handling of medicationsMaintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, control records for narcotics, and controlled drugsReview interactions and contraindications of reported use of over the counter medications.Ensure patient confidentially and HIPAA adherenceBased on operational needs the Pharmacist may be assigned to other function as requiredComplies with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs, as applicableJob Requirements Special Skills:Must have the ability to make clinical decisionsMust be compassionate, courteous and have excellent interpersonal skillsMust have the ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journalsDetail oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptionAbility to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisionsConduct work in compliance with office workplace policesActively participates in the achievement of patient satisfactionAbide by the Pyramids Pharmacy Standards of Conduct and company policiesMust be a team playerTechnical Skills:Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applicationsComputer access that includes hands-on use of order processing, inventory and database softwareDigital dexterity e.g. use of computer keyboardKnowledge of computer programsExperience:2+ years’ experience in IV Biologics preferred1+ year of home infusion experienceMinimum 1 year management experienceLicensure and Certification RequirementsValid Pharmacist Registration issued by the State of Texas requiredB.S. Pharmacy or PharmD DegreeThe Pharmacist will be responsible for obtaining the appropriate number of continuing education hours for licensure as required by the State of Texas.Physical Requirements:Sufficient Manual dexterity to perform all pharmacy tasksAbility to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.Ability to stand over one-half of the time of work shift.Applicants must be able to pass a drug test and background investigation.
