About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, bilingual Pharmacy Technician who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment and is ready to make a meaningful impact every day. This role goes well beyond filling prescriptions. You will be an essential part of our clinical workflow — handling complex specialty medications, navigating insurance processes, and ensuring patients receive their therapies without interruption.
Responsibilities
- Accurately enter, process, and verify prescription orders using Prime RX pharmacy management software
- Prepare and dispense specialty medications in compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations
- Communicate with patients, caregivers, prescribers, and insurance representatives in both English and a second language
- Manage prior authorizations, prescription transfers, and refill coordination for specialty drug therapies
- Work closely with pharmacists to ensure accurate dispensing and patient safety at every step
- Handle point-of-sale (POS) transactions and end-of-day reconciliation
- Coordinate specialty medication deliveries and maintain proper temperature and handling documentation
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and ensure all records are up to date in Prime RX
- Support inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and controlled substance logging
- Uphold New Lots Pharmacy’s standards for compliance, accuracy, and patient-centered care
Qualifications
- NYS Pharmacy Technician registration required; CPhT certification a plus but not required
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with Prime RX — this is required
- Bilingual — fluency in English and Spanish (or another language) required
- Minimum 1–2 years of pharmacy technician experience, specialty pharmacy strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of insurance billing, prior authorizations, and specialty pharmacy workflows
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient care
- Reliable, professional, and a collaborative team member
Preferred Skills
- CPhT certification a plus but not required
