St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking a Shift Supervisor responsible for supporting the operation of the Campus Center Food Court, Phil’s Grill. This hands-on supervisory role involves working alongside staff in the kitchen while overseeing and supporting student employees throughout the shift.Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m., with weekend shifts as scheduled by the Manager of Phil’s. Hours during academic breaks and school holidays may vary, typically falling between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. Commencement weekend is required in addition to the regular weekend rotation.This is a 12-month position, working 9 months at Phil’s and 3 months as summer business support for the Marketplace, Catering and Events, and Retail. Dates for these are provided in advance, but may vary each year based on the college’s academic calendar.Specific Responsibilities:Supervise and direct student employees working in Phil’s Dining area, ensuring an efficient and positive work environment.Oversee daily food preparation, ensuring items are made according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines, maintaining high quality and presentation standards.Serve menu items promptly from a fast-paced, quick-service menu while delivering exceptional customer service.Train student employees to operate effectively at all stations, including the grill, fryer, sandwich line, and cash register.Support summer auxiliary operations by assisting with various business needs, such as serving guests at catered events and in Ruth’s Marketplace, and performing general housekeeping duties.Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of dining and food preparation areas at all times.Oversee nightly closing procedures, including cleaning, securing the facility, balancing the cash register, running POS reports, and completing cash drops.Maintain inventory and supplies by stocking food and beverages, prepping ingredients, restocking coolers, and performing general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes, pots, and pans.Required Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 2 years of food service experience, including strong short-order cooking skills.At least 1 year of supervisory and cash-handling experience.Ability to obtain ServSafe certification/training.Commitment to a mission-driven environment that is aligned with Catholic, Norbertine, and liberal arts values.Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to handle conflict professionally.Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, noisy environment while multitasking and meeting deadlines.Demonstrated good judgment, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.Proficient in basic math and computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Apps), with the ability to learn new systems.The College may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.Benefits package:The College offers an outstanding benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; retirement plan; paid time-off, and tuition waiver.
