$25,000.00 Signing Bonus for Registered Civil Engineer in the State of CA!!The Civil Engineer is responsible to plan, coordinate, and direct land surveying, civil engineering, and utility locating projects. The Civil Engineer will lead and oversee designated projects, striving to complete projects within agreed budgets and timelines. The Civil Engineer performs and/or coordinates all aspects of civil engineering projects, both in the field and in the office, including preparing technicians for field and office duties, and performing advanced level professional engineering work in design, construction, and maintenance of private and public works projects. The Civil Engineer is responsible to establish and maintain friendly, professional relationships with project managers during course of work on a project and must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Additional responsibilities include mentor, support, and coach growth and improvement in the civil design capabilities of junior staff, and special projects as directed by supervising manager.*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*1. Project Management, including oversight, direction and support of field and office work associated with Civil Design and Land Survey projectsa. Research, gather and supply essential documents and materials to direct the completion of field and/or office workb. Delegate and supervise Civil and Survey techs on assigned tasks* Verify the work performed by assigned Technicians for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable engineering standards and specifications* Guide and direct technician staff to stay on course with project schedules and budgets by monitoring completion of assigned field and office tasks* Be available to troubleshoot and/or provide guidance to Civil and Survey Technicians when issues arise with assigned workc. Drive completion of survey projects within contracted budgets and timeframes; provide regular updates to management and ownership on project budget and/or timeline slippaged. Effectively manage scope creep through timely communication and negotiation of Extra Work requirement when scope and/or client needs changee. Maintain project files and include all notes, communications, research and design documents2. Prepare and oversee detailed civil engineering design in connection with municipal public works and private capital improvement projectsa. Perform advanced professional engineering design that includes civil/site, roadway, drainage, stormwater management, pipelines, municipal and transportation structures, and signalized intersectionsb. Generate professional engineering plans, specifications, technical calculations, and engineering reports as dictated by assigned projectsc. Conduct and oversee site observations, existing conditions backchecking, and written field reportsd. Check plans and specifications to ensure a high level of standard for accuracy and completenesse. Review development plans and capital improvement plans and make recommendations regarding design, constructability, maintenance, and traffic related issues* Meet with developers and/or consultants to resolve issuesf. Sign and stamp deliverables3. Build and enhance Bedrock's brand reputation and client relationsa. Ensure clients have a clear understanding of their rights, responsibilities, and obligations in relation to survey requirements by providing quality, timely advice and informationb. Promote frequent and open channels of communication by providing project status updates when sensible, keeping the client "looped in" on work progressc. Manage client expectations to execute project deliverables on time4. Proactively communicate relative workload to Operations Manager and plan work to attempt to balance existing workload.a. Hold existing clients in high regard and be ready to assist in finding solutions5. Professionally interact over the phone, via email, and in-person with all Bedrock clients, documenting all project notes in the Ajera system6. Continually upgrade your Project Management and professional skillset through company-provided training and other outside learning opportunities*NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*1. Perform special projects upon request.2. Monitor phone calls and e-mails and respond within 24 hours.3. Perform other duties as assigned.*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*1. Principles and practices of applied civil engineering to estimates, studies, technical reports, design, plans, specifications, and professional recommendations for a variety of engineering activities.2. Land development, including planning and analysis of engineering systems needed for the use of land including streets, sewage, water facility, storm drain, grading, land use and utilities3. Thorough understanding of design and drafting methods, including proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D4. Communicate effectively both orally and written5. Able to take decisive action and document rationale for training/backup purposes6. Results driven with the ability to function independently and multi-task7. Able to pivot, focus and manage time well ensuring deadlines are met8. High attention to detail, resourcefulness, and analytical skills9. Ability to lead, manage and hold employees accountable10.Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude and is solutions oriented.11.Collaborative and dedicated to serving team members and clients*Supervisory Responsibilities*Engineer will be supervising and directing others*Experience*Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience*Education/Certification*Significant training in civil engineering, or a related field. Bachelor of Science degree preferred. PE preferred*WORKING CONDITIONS*Work is primarily performed indoors in an office environment, with occasional work outdoors as site visits or field work is required.*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**Visual: *Normal activity required daily for making color distinction, depth of sight, preparing/analyzing figures, computer use, and written records up to 8 hours per day.*Communication: *Able to express thoughts and ideas in an accurate and understandable manner through verbal and written format with internal and external contacts up to 8 hours per day.*Hearing*: Able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and outside contacts up to 8 hours per day.*Movement: *Ability to maneuver within an office setting and in a variety of locations up to 8 hours per day.*Use of fingers/Grasping/Holding: *Have hand movement and finger dexterity to operate field equipment such as a data collector and office equipment such as a computer, fax, phone, and copier up to 8 hours per day.*Travel:* Travel on public transportation, including but not limited to public airlines, may be required up to 10 percent of the time.Job Type: Full-timePay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Health insurance* Paid time off* Professional development assistanceLicense/Certification:* RCE for the state of California (Required)Work Location: In person
