The successful candidate will play a crucial role in diagnosing, treating, and supporting patients with substance use disorders and addiction-related health issues.Key Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments for patients with substance use disordersDevelop and implement personalized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices for addiction medicinePrescribe and manage medications for addiction treatmentProvide ongoing continuity of care and transitions of care for patients with substance use disordersDiagnose and treat co-occurring mental health disorders in patients with substance use disordersCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient careParticipate in patient education and counseling on substance use and addiction-related topicsTeach fellows, residents, medical students and other health professional students in clinical settingsStay updated on the latest advancements in addiction medicine and incorporate them into practiceQualifications:Allopathic or osteopathic medical degree from an accredited medical schoolBoard certification or eligibility in Addiction MedicineBoard certification in primary medical specialtyValid state medical license and DEA registration and eligibility for an active, unrestricted Missouri license and BNDD registrationExperience in diagnosing and treating patients with substance use disordersStrong knowledge of evidence-based addiction treatment modalitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-based environmentCompassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient careAdditional Requirements:Ability to perform Basic Life Support (BLS) and respond to medical emergenciesWillingness to participate in continuing education and professional developmentFamiliarity with electronic health record systemsSLUCare Physician Group and SSM Health have partnered for decades to provide exceptional medical services to patients at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, and most recently Saint Louis University Hospital.SLUCare's more than 600 faculty, other academic medical professionals, and staff are now a dedicated academic physician division within SSM Health – St. Louis and continue their work as researchers and educators.
