The selected PA will be employed by MemorialCare Medical Group, a for-profit multi-specialty group practice affiliated with MemorialCare Medical Foundation.Practice DetailsEmployed position with MemorialCare Medical Group (MCMG)Primary location: Long Beach, CAHours: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pmHospital call requiredEMR system: EpicJob Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe PA-Cardiac Surgery assists the supervising surgeon in the operating room, but also plays an integral role in the global management of patients undergoing cardiothoracic, vascular, or aortic surgery.Includes all aspects of peri-operative care from performing patient histories and daily rounds to invasive surgical procedures, including the critical retrieval of vascular tissue in coronary bypass proceduresCompetitive candidates must have extensive knowledge of artificial cardiac devices, ventilators and the pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/cardiotonic drugsThe PA also provides patient care expertise in the postoperative acute care units, step-down units and regular floorsFirst assist in the O.R., participate in aortic clinic, endovascular vein harvestingBe part of one of the larger programs on the west coast for comprehensive aortic diagnosis and treatmentQualificationsMinimum 1 year of experience in a cardiothoracic surgery settingAt least 6 months of second assist experience in cardiothoracic surgeryFirst assist experience in cardiothoracic surgery (1+ year strongly preferred)Experience with endovascular vein harvestingGraduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programCurrent NCCPA Board Certification requiredPossession of or eligibility for a California medical licensePrior experience with Epic EMR (preferred)Current ACLS certificationActive DEA registrationFellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery (a plus)Financial & BenefitsCompetitive salary and annual incentive bonus planFull and comprehensive benefits for provider and family include: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401k retirement plan with employer contribution, and moreMedical license and DEA renewal reimbursementCME reimbursement fundGenerous PTO planMemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center, one of the largest free-standing hospitals on the west coast, is dedicated to clinical excellence, cutting-edge research and a robust clinical trial program.
