Company Description

Primary care services established in 1969 to serve the city’s medically underserved residents. AHS is comprised of 8 FQHCs, 5 Health Center Program Sites and 3 Look-Alike sites. All 8 health centers maintain Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation with Behavioral Health distinction. 

Role Description

Ambulatory Health Services is seeking both full-time and part-time Primary Care Physicians for our eight City of Philadelphia health centers. The Ambulatory Health Services mission is to provide health care to Philadelphia’s poor and medically underserved residents and to do so by providing quality and dignified services that meet their personal health care needs and result in improved health status.


PA Loan Repayment Programs are offered through employment at City of Philadelphia Health Centers and NHSC Loan Repayment.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

 

•              Principles, practices and current developments of the appropriate medical specialty.

•              Principles, practices and current developments of general medicine and surgery.

•              Principles and practices of preventive medicine, as they apply to the appropriate medical specialty.

•              Medical jurisprudence

 

ABILITY TO:

 

•              Work coordinately with other professional groups and individuals in the control of disease.

•              Examine patients, diagnose diseases, and prescribe and administer treatment in the field of specialization.

•              establish and maintain effective work relationships with associates and patients.

•              supervise the work of extended care providers engaged in examining and treating patients.

 

 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 

EDUCATION: 

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy and completion of an internship in an approved hospital.

 

 

FAMILY MEDICINE, INTERNAL MEDICINE AND PEDIATRIC SPECIALTIES

 

Completion of all current formal requirements necessary to be accepted for the initial examinations for certification by the appropriate American Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Board.

 

 

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND/OR CERTIFICATES

 

Possession of a valid unrestricted license to practice medicine or osteopathy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania issued by the appropriate state board prior to and during tenure of appointment as a Clinician.
